New VOMITORY album All Heads Are Gonna Roll

Today we celebrate that this fine album is unleashed upon the world! And it's a very special album, but why is that? Well, first off Vomitory are a splendid orchestra with their no compromise, no f***s given style of death metal, and I have been a big fan of the band since the very beginning, way back in the olden times. Also, this is their first release in 12 years, so this is some sort of a comback for the band.

But not only that, they entusted ME with shaping the way this album sounds, by enlisting (conscripting, more like it) me to mix and master the album. What an honour! My goal and vision for the album was to keep it as natural as I could while not sacrificing clarity, punch and brutality. One of the ways to do that was to not use any drum samples, so what you hear are the sounds produced by Tobias Gustafsson hammering the living crap out of his TAMA-kit. Something I always try to do when mixing fantastic drummers.

Go listen to this album today, and keep spinning it all throughout the weekend and into infinity! Cheers!

New BLOODBATH album out now

The new BLOODBATH album "Survival of the Sickest" is finally out. We started this journey 1,5 years ago and the recordings were off and on during that time (due to the plague of course) but in the end we managed to pull it off. The highlight being when restrictions were temporarily lifted and Nick managed to fly out to Stockholm to lay down the vocals. It was such a fun time.

I’m extremely proud of this album and very thankful for being trusted with shaping the way it sounds, especially since I'm following in the footsteps of some of the best producers in Metal who I all respect greatly.

Crack open a beer and give the album a spin today! “To dream of death while awake”

Apple Digital Masters

We are proud to announce that we are now on the exclusive list of studios certified by Apple to provide high resolution masters that can be branded as Apple Digital Masters.

From Billboard.com:

"On August 7 Apple Music announced the launch of Apple Digital Masters, a new initiative by the streaming giant that combines all of its “Mastered for iTunes” offerings into one global catalog. This is the company’s first public acknowledgement of the initiative, which it has been quietly unveiling for some time.

Launched in 2012, Mastered for iTunes created a set of guidelines and software tools (distributed for free) that allowed engineers to optimize their music for the digital download service format by encoding from high-resolution masters. The goal of the program was to create studio-quality sound files virtually identical to the original master recordings (aka "lossless" audio), which were then placed in a special “Mastered for iTunes” section on the app."

The first 6 months

My first 6 months of running the mastering studio has been really busy. But I haven't only been mastering, I've been producing and mixing a lot of bands and artists as well. It's been a great start and I have many more cool projects lined up this fall.

I would like to thank all the awesome artists I’ve had the pleasure of working with during these last few months. Most notably I've co-mixed and mastered the latest Soreption album titled "Monument of the End" together with my partner in crime Daniel Bergstrand. Also the LIK album "Carnage" which I produced, mixed and mastered has been received really well. And finally I got the mastering gig for the debut album "Danse Macabre" from Danish band Baest. All these albums are death metal in some form and I simply love that music. However, I've also worked with singer/songwriter music, folk music and straight up rock bands. Anything that comes my way, I do with great passion. It's all about the craft.

Looking forward to the rest of the year. Will YOUR release be my next project?

And we're off!

The first couple of months since I launched Obey Mastering have been busy ones. It started off with Uppsalas Hardcore band Always War and their new EP, then Abnegation from Australia. Brutal Death Metal by Decryptus, also from Australia. Then the new LIK album, which I also produced and mixed, followed by the upcoming Nale album, which produced and mixed as well. I mastered a vinyl version of Klotet's last album which is now going to be released on vinyl. And finally Black Metal from the Wermlandish forests by Svederna.

If you want me to do production or mixing I also work at Dugout Productions together with Daniel Bergstrand. Contact me for rates and availability.

I have a few more projects coming up before the holidays, then I'm looking forward to a very productive 2018.
