PARADISE LOST - Ascension

I am immensely proud to see the release of the new PARADISE LOST album “Ascension” today. This album marks the band's 17th studio album and it's very rare for a band to release an album of this caliber so far into their career, in my own humble opinion. Working on this album has been an absolutely fantastic and joyous experience.

We started off by tracking the drums in the middle of winter in January at NBS Studio in Söderfors, a converted missionary church owned and operated by Tore Stjerna. I have worked out of this studio before with LIK and Katatonia and absolutely love the big room for drums. Greg had the vision of the toms sounding more old school so we took off the resonant heads and went full on concert tom-mode on all of them and it sounded perfect (I will definitely be doing this more in the future). Guido tracked the drums and did a great job. We packed up, they flew home and Greg finished off all the guitar, bass and other production elements in his own studio in East Yorkshire, while I did some pre-mixing on the drum tracks.

A couple of months later Nick and Greg came to my hometown Uppsala in Sweden for the vocal recordings. This time we worked out of a smaller private production studio called Wasteland Studio. Nick, being a total pro, was well prepared so the recordings went very smoothly so we really had time to reflect on the songs and try some new ideas here and there, I even got to do some backing vocals which was great fun. All in all a very pleasant and creative session.

All that was left for me after dropping off the gents at the airport was to mix and master the whole thing at my own studio and a couple of weeks later the album was done and dusted.

I’m truly honoured to have been invited to work with a band that I have been listening to since the early 90’s and respect greatly and I hope everyone that listens to this album enjoys it as much as I did working on it.

VITTRA "Intense Indifference" out now!

I’m proud to once again have been trusted to mix an album with Vittra. These guys are phenomenal musicians and songwriters, so working on their music is an absolute pleasure. Like the previous album “Blasphemy Blues” it was recorded at Solnasound Studios by Simon Johansson and mixed and mastered by me. Check it out if you are a fan of… well… metal! Because this band has it all.

KATATONIA's new album "Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State" out today!

Today marks the day when the new KATATONIA album is finally released. I was thrilled when I was asked to engineer not only the stringed instruments this time but also the drums, because I knew I could make them sound awesome. So in the autumn of 2024 me, Jonas and Daniel entered NBS Studio with it’s fantastic church hall to record the drums and then straight afterwards we went back to the Kat HQ to do the guitars and bass with Nico, Sebastian and Niklas. After all the production was done I handed everything over to Adam Noble to lay his touch on the final mix. I really love this album, not only for how good it is and sounds, but because of the fond memories of working on it.

LIK "Necro" released today!

Those that know my work know that I have been involved with LIK since the band’s inception, producing and mixing all their albums, so it will come as no surprise to hear that I’m INCREDIBLY proud to see this album unleashed into the world. It’s an amazing album that we all had a great time making and hope that people will enjoy. This year also marks 10 years since the band’s debut album was released, so it feels a little extra special. If you haven’t already, check out “Necro” and the rest of LIK’s catalogue. You will not regret it.

Debut album from HIGH PARASITE out today!

Around this time last year I was approached about working with this new band. Their demos sounded great and the style was inspired by dark and gothic metal and featured Aaron Stainthorpe from MY DYING BRIDE on lead vocals. I was instantly impressed and interested and it was a real joy mixing and mastering this album and working with the band in developing their sound. Go check it out!

New VOMITORY album All Heads Are Gonna Roll

Today we celebrate that this fine album is unleashed upon the world! And it's a very special album, but why is that? Well, first off Vomitory are a splendid orchestra with their no compromise, no f***s given style of death metal, and I have been a big fan of the band since the very beginning, way back in the olden times. Also, this is their first release in 12 years, so this is some sort of a comback for the band.

But not only that, they entusted ME with shaping the way this album sounds, by enlisting (conscripting, more like it) me to mix and master the album. What an honour! My goal and vision for the album was to keep it as natural as I could while not sacrificing clarity, punch and brutality. One of the ways to do that was to not use any drum samples, so what you hear are the sounds produced by Tobias Gustafsson hammering the living crap out of his TAMA-kit. Something I always try to do when mixing fantastic drummers.

Go listen to this album today, and keep spinning it all throughout the weekend and into infinity! Cheers!

New BLOODBATH album out now

The new BLOODBATH album "Survival of the Sickest" is finally out. We started this journey 1,5 years ago and the recordings were off and on during that time (due to the plague of course) but in the end we managed to pull it off. The highlight being when restrictions were temporarily lifted and Nick managed to fly out to Stockholm to lay down the vocals. It was such a fun time.

I’m extremely proud of this album and very thankful for being trusted with shaping the way it sounds, especially since I'm following in the footsteps of some of the best producers in Metal who I all respect greatly.

Crack open a beer and give the album a spin today! “To dream of death while awake”
